"When most people hear a melodic death metal band, they normally assume they are from somewhere on the Scandinavian Peninsula which is why I was surprised to hear Shadowsphere is from Portugal. The band’s debut album “Darklands” is a great addition to any heavy music fan’s album collection. Shadowsphere’s sound is very similar to the likes of At the Gates, In Flames, and the vocals at times remind me of Bjorn from Soilwork around their Steelbath Suicide era. Carrying on the art of dual guitar harmonies a la Iron Maiden, Shadowsphere is able to create incredibly beautiful melodies. My personal favorites are “New Sky” and “Into the Lungs of Hell.” Though the production quality of the album isn’t all that great, the music definitely makes up for it. In all Darklands is an awesome album, it’s full of melody and aggression. I suggest you check these guys out and hope we can hear more from them in the years to come."
